May Wrap Up

Books I read and finished in May

This was mostly a month of reading ARCs, and still struggling to get out of my reading slump. I started the month with a short read of the only Yoko Ogawa novella I have but hadn’t read yet, The Housekeeper and the Professor, it was lovely and helped me get back in to reading after my slump.

I then received an ARC for White Peak by Ronan Frost which I got stuck in to straight away and it’s fast paced action kept me reading, very enjoyable adventure thriller. Shortly after that I received an advance copy of one of my most anticipated books of the year, The Girl in Red by Christina Henry. I have read Alice and Red Queen by Christina and loved them so much I couldn’t wait to get my hands on her latest release which did not disappoint.

I was also gifted a copy of the graphic novel Watersnakes which I enjoyed more than I thought I would, the art is unique and gorgeous and I loved the dark and twisted story. I then finally managed to get a copy of Smashed by Junji Ito which is another one of his horror manga anthologies packed with more creepy tales and horrid images, just what I like.

June TBR

I am half way through reading The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami and Soul of the Sword by Julie Kagawa which is an eARC of the sequel to Shadow of the Fox which was one of my favourite releases from last year, loving it so far and will hopefully finish it soon and have a review up as it comes out at the end of June.

I will also obviously be re-reading Goodbye Tsugumi by Banana Yoshimoto for my book club and posting the spoiler review on the 15th. Aside from those 3 books I don’t have any other specific plans for books to read, I also have an eARC for Pan’s Labyrinth which comes out early July so I will probably start that.

What are you planning on reading in June?

Other plans

I still need to write and post a K-pop album review for Oneus so that should be up in the first half of the month, I will probably make gaming related posts to do with E3 as well no doubt, the hype is real over here.

I’m also going to start creative writing posts on here again, nothing serious, just writing when I feel the mood to get back in the habit of doing it, those posts will mostly be on Sundays.

Obviously I’m posting my first Japanese book club post on the 15th which will be a full spoiler discussion on Goodbye Tsugumi by Banana Yoshimoto, there is still plenty of time to join in and readalong! Ateez are having a comeback on the 10th and Noir on the 12th so expect album reviews for those! I hope everyone has a great month 🙂

Animal Crossing for Nintendo Switch update: ….still no news but E3 is in like 2 weeks ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  1. I wasn’t particularly impressed by AB6IX, but ONEUS are quickly becoming my fave rookie boy group, I think! Have fun with the first round of your book club, I look forward to joining in on later installments 🙂
